Frequently Asked Questions

How does Goldilocks learn my preferences?

Goldilocks personalizes recommendations using information you provide directly. When you set up your profile, you share how you tend to run — whether you run hot or cold, how you handle rain, and your preferred clothing for warm, mild, and cold conditions.

Each time you log a run, you record what you wore and how it felt. The app uses that history to match similar weather conditions in the future, favoring outfits that felt just right. When your logged history is limited, the app draws on your profile and current weather conditions to fill in the gaps. Your data is never used to train AI models.

How do I connect Strava or Apple Health?

Open your Profile, then tap Settings. For Apple Health, toggle on “Sync from Apple Health” — the app requests read-only access to your recent run workouts. For Strava, tap the Connect button to authorize read-only access to your run activities.

Both integrations surface your recent runs so you can quickly log an outfit without re-entering distance or duration. You can disconnect either service in Settings at any time.

Does Goldilocks work without connecting Strava or Apple Health?

Yes. Both integrations are entirely optional. You can log every run manually — entering distance, duration, and outfits directly — and the recommendation engine works the same way. Strava and Apple Health simply save you a few taps by pre-filling recent workout data.

What permissions does Goldilocks request and why?

  • Location — to fetch current weather for your area so recommendations match real conditions. You can grant GPS access for automatic detection, or enter your zip code instead — either works.
  • Apple Health (optional, read-only) — to pull recent running workouts so you can log an outfit without typing distance or duration. Goldilocks does not write any data back to Apple Health.
  • Notifications (optional) — to remind you to log your outfit after a run. Requires a connection with Apple Health or Strava to detect when a run is complete.
  • Camera and Photos (optional) — you can attach a photo to a run log, but it's never required. Goldilocks does not request camera or photo access upfront — your device will only prompt if and when you choose to add a photo.
  • Strava (optional, connected account) — if you connect your Strava account, Goldilocks can detect when you finish a run and remind you to log your outfit. Goldilocks only reads activity data and never posts or modifies anything on your behalf.

Why does Goldilocks send push notifications?

Notifications are optional and only sent as run-logging reminders. After you complete a run, the app may send notifications to remind you to log your outfit if you have not done so yet. If you connected Strava, a reminder may also arrive shortly after a new activity is recorded there.

You can disable notifications at any time in your Profile or in iOS Settings.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile, then Account, then Legal & Support, and tap “Delete Account.” You will be asked to confirm. This permanently removes your profile, all logged runs, run photos, and your login credentials. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Is my health data shared with anyone?

Your personal data and run history are stored securely on our servers. When generating an outfit recommendation, your weather information, run history, and clothing preferences are shared with a third-party AI provider solely to produce your recommendation. As stated in our Privacy Policy, this information is never used to train, retrain, fine-tune, or otherwise improve any AI model.

Your location is used only to retrieve weather data from our weather provider. Any third-party integration tokens — such as those used to connect Strava — are stored securely and used only to power features within the app. We do not use advertising networks or embed third-party analytics in the app.

Does Goldilocks cost anything?

Goldilocks is currently free to use. If paid plans are introduced in the future, you will be notified before any charges occur.

Is Goldilocks available on Android?

Not yet — Goldilocks is launching on iOS first. Android is in active development and is planned as our next release.

Will Android support health and activity integrations?

The Android version will support both Google Health Connect and Strava.

What permissions will the Android version request?

  • Location — to fetch current weather for your area. You can grant GPS access or enter your zip code manually.
  • Health Connect (optional, read-only) — to pull recent run workouts from Google Health Connect. Goldilocks does not write any data back to Health Connect.
  • Notifications (optional) — to remind you to log your outfit after a run. On Android, run-completion reminders require a Strava connection; Google Health Connect is used to surface recent workouts within the app but does not support background run detection.
  • Camera and Photos (optional) — only prompted if and when you choose to attach a photo to a run log.
  • Strava (optional) — read-only access; Goldilocks never posts or modifies anything on your behalf.
